Intaglio Medallions

Collected on “The Grand Tour,” the nineteenth-century elite acquired these medallions from various museums as they traveled across Europe. In a sense the first collector’s souvenir, period collections of intaglio imprints are distinctive, rare and precious. [Note: the original wooden display frame that encased all six trays of medallions accompanies this lot.]
