Glazed Faience “Indian” Style Urn

Doulton & Co., Lambeth, England c. 1880-1891

This fine example of Faience was created by the Lambeth, England, maker of Doulton & Co., as indicated by the impressed mark inside of its rim, which dates the piece as having been made between 1880 and 1891. It is also well documented by an illustration from the firm’s 1898 catalogue where it is identified as an “Indian Urn” and listed as “Conservatory Furniture.” Another marking on the lip of this rare piece suggests the identity of the individuals who designed it [probably John Broad working with assistant J. B. Harding (JBH)].
