AESTHETIC ENAMEL-DECORATED TERRACOTTA VASE
Attributed to Watcombe Pottery, Torquay, England c. 1875
The colorful, well-executed painted Aesthetic decoration done in fired glass enamels contrasts well with the matte terracotta surface of the Japanesque bottle form. Although not marked by its maker, the similarity of this finely preserved piece to other works makes attribution to the Watcombe Pottery quite certain. Marked In turquoise “4/6216/4”.
